Individual Therapy for Adults Online Across Australia
At Shepherd’s Hill Psychology, we provide support for a range of mental health concerns.
We specialise in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, OCD, women’s health issues and those struggling to adjust following stressful life experiences. Based in Adelaide, we provide online therapy services to adults Australia wide.
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration and available via Telehealth across Australia, where you can receive the same professional care from the comfort of home. Online sessions are secure, confidential, and ideal for individuals with busy work lives or in rural locations.
Many evidence based treatment approaches can be adapted to suit telehealth delivery, and telehealth sessions are eligible for the Medicare rebate.
No two people are the same, and no two therapy journeys look the same either.
Therapy is grounded in a range of evidence-based approaches, including ACT, CBT and Schema Therapy and EMDR, to create a treatment approach that is tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Areas of Support
We work with a broad range of presentations, helping people find their way through some of life's most challenging experiences, including:
-
Support for those who struggle with excessive worry, stress, panic attacks or phobias. Anxiety can be general in nature, or relate to specific situations or triggers.
There are often physical manifestations of anxiety, including feelings of restlessness, difficulty sleeping, or a racing heart. Treatment draws on CBT, ACT and Exposure Therapy principles to develop strategies to help manage worries, reduce avoidance and build confidence.
-
For individuals who experience strange or disturbing thoughts that pop into their head. OCD can cause thoughts to get stuck in a ‘loop’ in our minds and therapy focuses on developing strategies to manage these thoughts based on Exposure and Response Prevention principles.
-
Difficulty making decisions, shame, low self esteem and irritability can be associated with patterns of perfectionistic thinking and behaviour, or from cycles of burnout associated with demands of work or family life.
Therapy focuses on introducing balance, fostering self esteem and developing healthy coping patterns.
-
Perinatal depression or anxiety, Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Endometriosis and other women’s health concerns can have a significant impact on day to day wellbeing. Anxiety or depression can often co-occur, with treatment providing a personalised approach based on the triggers and root causes of mood disturbance.
Therapy will focus on identifying the thoughts and situations that trigger and maintain your emotions, and how to address these in a way that promotes well-being.
-
Psychological therapy can also provide support for individuals going through life challenges, and those wanting to build a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Parenting support, relationship difficulties, work stress or major life transitions can have a significant impact on emotional wellbeing.
Treatment focuses on strategies grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to develop ways to cope with challenges, develop resilience and move towards valued goals.
-
In addition to assessment services, psychological support will focus on psychoeducation and building life skills with the aim to reduce the need for medication or for promoting healthy lifestyles.
Support can be offered to families supporting children, or to adults who have received diagnoses later in life.
-
Understanding patterns of communication or attachment can helpful to navigate tricky relationships that are a part of life. Therapy often works towards goals of building deeper connection and resilience.
-
Psychological support can help to manage high pressure work environments or symptoms of burnout. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and lifestyle strategies can provide practical ways to feel calmer and more in control.
-
You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support. Some individuals recognise that life no longer feels the way they want it to, or that they are going through a period of significant change. Sessions can be tailored to work towards future goals that align with your values and to cope with periods of transition.
